FONTANA, Calif. (KTLA) — Thousands of wooden pallets fueled a fire at an industrial yard in the 8300 block of Sultan Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
About a hundred firefighters responded to the 5-alarm blaze, which broke out around 3:00 p.m. in the quarter-acre complex.
There were several explosions from overheated propane gas tanks that were on the property.
One firefighter sustained a heat-related injury. He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and later released.
The blaze created a black cloud of smoke in the area that was visible for miles.
Several buildings in the yard were being threatened by the flames, but there are no reports of damage to the structures.
Arson investigators have yet to determine a cause for the fire.
